The Saotome Academy is a prestigious school with a specific curriculum: music. Its purpose is to nurture the creative minds of its students, both singers and composers alike, so that they may debut as professional idols. Nanami Haruka is a girl with such dreams who— though she is a complete novice to songwriting— has a passion and talent for music enough to ensure her acceptance into the school. What awaits her there is a string of meetings with six talented "Princes of Song," all of them singers who come to take a liking to her music. However, as a rule, she can only pair with one of them for the final competition, and as she grows closer to each one, the decision becomes harder and harder to make.
And so, Kurusu Shou happens to be one of those "Princes of Song." Compared to the others, he might seem to fall a bit... short. His height tends to give him problems since he would rather be seen as strong and manly, but his looks alone make him more "cute"— and he can be quite defensive about that. But stature aside, he's just as capable a singer, and he works hard to accomplish his dreams. He always seems full of energy, and he has a generally cheerful disposition. He's friendly and willing to help others, and he certainly cares for his friends. But he can also be competitive and isn't afraid to fight for what he wants. He's earnest in his approaches, putting his all into everything he does. It's just that sometimes he'd rather practice in secret and wait until he's ready to put on the show.

All right, Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and the ZomBeats are holding a concert in Marcy's honor. And you're concerned about your image. Well, that's to be expected. It's not really any secret that you guys are dressed for the entirely wrong occasion. After all, this holiday might be about sharing your heart with others, but... Most people don't want to think about it so literally. Basically, we need to find some way to separate you from the Halloween look you have going on.
It might not hurt to try some makeup. Don't be above it just because you're guys! Although, it might cost a fortune for all the concealer we'd need. Wait, I have an idea! What if you tried using the dirt around the swamp to make a mud mask? I've never been a fan, but it could have some results. Or instead, maybe we'll find another way to conceal. It's still cold out, so long coats could work pretty well. Oh! And I'll lend you one of my hats! Actually... On second thought, you can keep it. Even with the new wardrobe, it doesn't really change your image much, though. But I'm not going to give up! There has to be something we're missing... Missing? That's it! Maybe what you need to do is focus on the meaning of the event itself, and then you should be able to understand what it is you're lacking.
And that something is heart!! No, I'm not talking about the organ! No, not the musical instrument! I'm talking about your spirit! Even though your group name has "beats" in it, your music has no soul! And I'm not just talking about the melodies themselves, but how you as performers are presenting it. Even if you're playing a ballad, you should look alive while you're playing it! Think about the music and how it makes you feel. That's how your audience should see you and feel you! And know that your heart will go on!
